Arden Doerner Barbour

Axial Spondyloarthritis Community Advocate Arden BarbourArden Doerner Barbour was diagnosed with non-radiographic axial spondylarthritis in May 2020. She went from being an active Coloradan enjoying everything Colorado has to offer outdoors to barely being able to walk around the block within a one-week period. After diagnosis, Arden started gathering resources and searched for a community to learn more about AxSpA and how others cope. She started working with a nutritionist, seeing a mental health professional, and continued treatment with a physical therapist. After an initial grieving period, Arden found the silver lining of her diagnosis in being forced to slow down and focus on herself.

Arden has a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and currently works in biologics manufacturing, so she has a keen interest in the science of AxSpA as well as the biologics used in treatment. She currently lives in Colorado and enjoys cooking, hiking, and fly fishing.
