Lisa Marie Basile
Lisa Marie Basile was officially diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondyltiis in 2017 after living with nearly a decade's worth of symptoms. She has attended the NASS meetups in NYC, and is an advocate for many people with AS through her writing and social media presence @lisamariebasile. She is also a writer, editor and author who focuses her work on chronic illness, literature, trauma recovery, creativity, wellness, and self-development. She's written for The New York Times, Refinery 29, Good Housekeeping, Healthline, HuffPost, and more, and she's the author of a few books of poetry and nonfiction, including Light Magic for Dark Times. She keeps a column about Ankylosing Spondylitis here, and most recently has an essay about chronic illness and women in the acclaimed Burn It Down anthology.
