Jill King

Jill was previously a health leader on AxialSpondyloarthritis.net.

Jill King was diagnosed with non-radiographic axial spondyloarthritis (nr-AxSpa) when she was 21 years old. After confirming sacroiliitis through SI joint injections and months of her own patient research, her pain specialist confirmed his suspicion of nr-AxSpa.

Her diagnosis brings as many answers as it does questions; some more context for her vision loss but more uncertainty of how AxSpa could continue to affect her health throughout her life.

Jill navigates disability and uncertainty through a combination of writing about her honest, lived experiences and leaning on her community. Whether this be through discussing disability and illness policies, writing or by highlighting the effects sudden disability can have on mental health.

Jill writes about her lived experiences on her Instagram and discusses her work and strides on her Twitter. She is a Psychology student at Georgia Southern University and co founded GSU's first disability advocacy group, both by and for disabled students. Jill was also honored with Health Union's Rookie of the Year Social Health Award in 2022.
