   <p>Good morning <inline-mention username="Scifimom" user-id="2390142"/> from Swindon (UK)<br/>It seems to have taken such a long time to identify AS, and it makes me wonder if other diseases take as long. What is it with AS that makes it so difficult to pin down? I&#39;m sure there&#39;s a perfectly good answer, but it is scant consolation to those of us who went undiagnosed for years. <br> I&#39;m sorry your rheumatologist wasn&#39;t more forthcoming. Speaking to a specialist about your condition used to be relatively easy here in the UK. I am not sure if you are in the US or the UK, but I suspect you are in the US as you mention ER. In the UK we call it A&amp;E but I think they are the same thing. <br> We used to have a dedicated phone number direct to the rheumatology nurses at my local hospital. I could call them up and they would call me back within a day or so. Sadly, what with the pandemic and other political factors, it&#39;s no longer as easy as it was. <br> I do hope you are feeling better now. <br> Take care <br> Steve - Community Advocate <br> <br/><br/><br/><br/></p>
