My Story

I started with hives 2 months after I graduated college. I was on many different meds for them but nothing help. I also was bounced from doctor to doctor for a variety of symptoms including a cardiologist, pulmonologist, endocrinologist, sleep specialist, and orthopedic. Finally the ortho sent me to a rheumatologist because my symptoms weren’t responding to his treatment. The rheumy looked over all my symptoms, doctor visits, and labs and vowed to find out what was wrong. She diagnosed me in July of 2015 and I have been on treatment ever since. I often felt crazy, not listened to and discouraged in that year but I know 2 things 1) I am extremely lucky to have such a short diagnosis time and 2) find someone that fights FOR you, because only you know what’s right or not right in your body. Thankfully my rheumatologist was going to let me walk out of her office without a diagnosis and I am forever indebted to her kindness, listening attitude and for always fighting for my health and well being.
