Hot pack treatments not right for the pains due to inflammation as they would make it worse?

What's your opinion?

  1. I know everyone can be different in what helps between cold and hot. I find when I feel my body feels like it's on fire, I like to use more cold compress. But if I am stiff and in severe pain, I use my bestie my heating pad. I know some also love and find alternating between cold and hot helps. Hope your doing well today.

    1. My body can not handle cold at all. Just getting out of the car in the cold is a killer. I have heated seats and electric heating pads everywhere. My work office is in a basement and I have to have a long over the shoulder and neck to hips pad for when I'm at work with gloves if it's chilly. I stiffen up and hurt like no tomorrow.
How do you get through all that to use ice for the inflammation??

      1. @Dottie70 I am the same way. Heat is what helps me through the inflammation and pain. How was your day today?

      2. outdoor cold is very painful on my hands. They turn deep blue with throbbing pain.

    2. It’s really hard to explain. After years with this disease my body just tells me. I always have a heating pad nearby, but sometimes my back says “Nope, not today. Try the ice.” I think it’s when the inflammation is worse than usual or maybe I’ve overdone it that day.

      1. I couldn’t live without my heating pad or ice packs. My body tells me what it needs. Use that heat, it’s a lifesaver.

        1. Do you mind sharing how you decide whether to use heat or ice? I'd be really interested to know how that works for you as it's something I've not experimented with much myself (especially ice).

I have found a cold blast at the end of my morning shower seems to help though.
