Wax Off, Wax On

This is about my ankylosing spondylitis and uveitis and how some days I move my hands, (when I CAN, lol) to wax off the yucky stuff in my eyes, while other days I have to wax on multiple eye drops.

Now for one month, I have been going to a clinic that is testing what's called "Sclero-Lens," and it's not going well. I see, (haha, "see"...too funny) the doctor again because the Sclero-Lens made my eyes worse.

That's ok, I will continue to wax on and wax off until I either see 100% or I don't. Again, I am very happy for the people here who DO have good results. May they continue for you.

I just googled this for anyone wondering: "Scleral lenses are large-diameter gas permeable contact lenses that vault over the cornea (the clear front of the eye) and rest over the sclera (the white of the eye). The scleral lens provides a smooth optical surface that works to correct vision problems caused by keratoconus and other irregular cornea problems." (<a href='http://eyerx.com' target='_blank' rel='noopener noreferrer ugc'>eyerx.com</a>). I'm so sorry the lens isn't going well AND that it caused more of an issue. As someone with a history of eye stuff and chronic uveitis, I feel for you. I love that you have a sense of humor about it all. What are the enxt steps? Is it getting better by any chance?

And then I have days where I can actually read & even drive short distances. It's as if I get my hopes up on the good days, then the rug is pulled out from under me & I'm back on the floor having a temper trantrum, lol. What can I do? I cry, I laugh, I yell, I write nasty poetry, lol. Whatever gets me thru the day & night.

Sorry to hear the lenses didn't help much. Hopefully, the clinic offers other treatments that may be more helpful. I have chronic dry eye due to AS and it sucks how much the eyes are affected by it.

 <inline-mention username="Anna Samson" user-id="4164139"/> It DOES suck. Honestly I am so tired of going to the clinic for hrs on end just to be let down...again. On the other hand, I'm glad they're helpful to some people. That's progress!

It sucks that there's no 100% money-back guarantee on treatment options for folks. It's a bit of trial and error, and you always gotta hope to come out the other side doing better than before. Have they offered up any other treatment options for you?

 <inline-mention username="Auldyn Matthews" user-id="2106873"/> As I said previously, they tried plugs for the tear ducts, they fell out. They tried cauterization, worked but very briefly. This is the next step, after this, surgery. If that's possible w/ my situation.

 <inline-mention username="Auldyn Matthews" user-id="2106873"/> Not yet. I kind of had a temper trantrum for a wk & so haven't called them. All the hrs I spend there along w/ all the other appointments, I just temporarily gave up. But I will be calling them this coming week. Thanks for asking!

Hi <inline-mention username="momof1" user-id="4172513"/> , Who would have thought Mr Miyagi's lessons would come to be helpful when it came to fighting chronic illness! I'm sorry to hear that this clinic hasn't been able to help you so far. Have they discussed trying a different kind of treatment that might work better for you?  <inline-mention username="James Hollens" user-id="2107776"/> Thanks for the laughs, needed that so bad!! Hopefully they'll find something that will help. The prof/doctor DID say it could take time and hrs to get the right lenses. Honestly? I think my eyes are just too sensitive.
