I have a question : Has anyone noticed that your skin is more sensitive when you take a shower ? I have to turn the Hot water way down or it really hurts. My wife is a Lobster likes it so hot she looks like-a lobster when she gets out.
Just thought about this ..

  1. Hi ,
I just wanted to add that skin sensitivity to hot or cold temperatures is quite common with AS. It is often referred to as thermal allodynia.
This is primarily due to inflammation that can affect the nerves, which in turn causes extreme sensitivity in the skin. ~Doreen (Team Member)

    1. - I knew that someone would know if it was connected to AS .
Doreen thanks for the input !

I started wondering if it had something to do with AS , every time I took a shower it seemed I had to keep turning temp to colder.Ron

    1. Hi - hello, Ron. I read recently it is a symptom of spondyloarthritis which can make you more sensitive to hot and cold temperatures depending on the amount of inflammation in the body. I have central pain syndrome due to spinal cord injury at C5-6 where anything cold that touches my skin on the right side of my body ribs down feels like it burns. But that is a specific condition. I am sure if I had higher inflammation or am not managing inflammation well it would be very sensitive. Thanks for the great question. Hope others jump in and give their experience with heat.
