I've had pain from AS before. but this time it's worse

I thought I was developing bursitis because of hip pain and limited mobility. However, after a few days, it changed. Unlike anything I ever felt before, I stared to fall and caught myself - pain! I then realized I couldn't sit or stand without help. A couple days over the weekend then I dropped a line to my doctor. He immediately prescribed steroids. It seems to be localized in my right SI Joint. And it seems that My SI joint has become on fire and yet makes walking and my pelvis weaker. I don't trust walking at all. I keep losing my leg out from under me. What a lousy event. I wonder how long it'll last?

  1. Thank you, @Latoya.Juniel! I've done a lot of pondering, but it still seems to be up to my body, and right now I am trying to make it feel nurtured, but she's still screaming. I am focusing on strengthening my abdominal muscles in small ways. Maybe that will add support to my back. I'm just so surprised how fast it came on and how the pain felt like different areas were involved before the pain centralized to the right SI joint. I keep wondering if the HLA-b27 gene was just a mutant or was there some benefit to mankind... personally, I think mutant gene. Not that that has any significance with dealing with pain. : )

    1. ,
I'm sorry to hear you are in so much pain.
I hope today finds you doing a bit better.
Are the steroids are making a difference?
I certainly hope this pain goes away as quickly as it came.

    2. Pondering is good! Nurturing your body even when it's resisting the love you're trying to give it is such a tango. But focusing on strengthening your abdominal muscles is a great step, as it can provide more support to your back and help with the pain. As for the HLA-B27 gene, I get the "mutant gene" thought—it’s definitely one of those genetic mysteries! But you’re handling it with such strength, and that’s what matters most. Keep taking care of yourself! All the best, Latoya (Team Member)

  2. That sounds really tough, . I hate to hear that you have to go through something like this. It sounds incredibly painful and frustrating, especially with the added worry of losing your balance and not being able to trust your legs. I’m glad you were able to get in touch with your doctor quickly, but I can understand the uncertainty about how long it will last. Have they given you any idea about how long it might take to feel better, or if there's anything else you can try for relief? I really hope you get some relief soon. I’m sending you positive vibes for a quick recovery! 🤍🤲
