Mouth Sores

Hello! I'm wondering if anyone else has mouth sores in addition to their other symptoms? For 6 months now, since my last major flare, the sores in my mouth have been almost unbearable. Makes eating and drinking so tricky! My rheumatologist didn't think this was a common symptom and might not be related. But, it's just too weird with the timing. Thanks!

  1. Hi Nicky,
Tough week of trying to reach some kind of acceptance of all the symptoms and their implications for my future. When I am doing well I seem to forget another round will inevitably hit. The thought that my future could include canes and scooters and continuing pain is formidable. But, I must find hope. I have a wonderful husband, family and life and I can't just give in to the dark thoughts. So, I am determined to begin next week with a new perspective and focus on the good.

    1. I can relate so much on these feelings. I know so many of us feel this way. You are not alone. I try not to think to many steps a head of what it will look like or be with this disease, so I don't get those dark thought come my way. I know it's hard but if you can think of what you are able to do at the moment. Sounds like you have great support by your side and that's amazing and so precious to have. You are lucky !! I hope you get some better days a head.

Sending you hugs and some positive vibes your way,

  2. Rough week, honestly. Battling docs and pharmacies, etc. I'msure you know the drill. Ortho surgeon wants to fuse 4 cervical vertebrae, but couldn't answer one question about impact of it on my already screwed up spine. I dtart Cosentyx on the 26th, so fingers crossed. How about you?

    1. I am sorry you are going through a rough week. Sending you all the positive vibes for this week to be a better one. I am on Cosentyx as well going 2 years now. It has helped me a lot, but it took a bit of time and getting the right dose. I hope it can help you as well. Let me know if you have any question.

      Sending you the warmest hugs,

  3. It looks like it could be a symptom of AS. I thought I would share some articles that can be helpful.

    1. I'm not taking a biological medication yet. So far, so good with NASAID management. But, the sores come and clear up and then they come back again in a new place. I haven't tried folic acid, so maybe that's what I will do!!!
