Hi:
Was just diagnosed with AS which is effecting knees only. Swelling, intermittent pain, and discomfort. My rheumatologist wants to do 800 mg of ibuprofen x3 a day. Steroid shots seem short lived. A little better but not great either.

Hello - you must really be in pain and walking extremely difficult. Usually, ibu is the first line of defense when diagnosed with SpA. Here is an article that may help you understand treatment protocol should ibu fail to help and you need more effective treatment. https://axialspondyloarthritis.net/medications Wishing you relief Rebecca (community moderator)

I am so sorry to hear about your diagnosis. I hope things get better soon. I know it seems that things will not but they can. I suggest you make a list of questions and also if you wish take someone to your next rheumatology appointment. It is tougher at first and I hope they get better after you get your bearings.
