What early signs did you experience that may have indicated you had axSpa?

Many folks with axSpa have early warning signs that they don't initially pick up on but later realize they are symptoms of axSpa. Did you have any early warning signs before your axSpa diagnosis? Share them below!

  1. This is a good question! I had quite few early signs that were treated independently and not linked to each other: pain in the spine in my late teens, tennis elbow late twenties, and inflammation of Achille's in early thirties.
I mention them because these pains and inflammation came out of the blue, without injuries, and took some time to heal...so already a sign of a chronic inflammation in my body. I used Osteopathy, physiotherapy, and homeopathy to manage these and lot of patience to heal these inflamed joints. I realise it was hard at the time to make some link between these. Things got worse when I was 33 and that led my diagnosis after inflammation in both my feet.

    1. My first Early sign was brain fog at work, 14 years before my diagnosis.

      1. Also a diagnosis of UC, 27 years before axSpa.

    2. Bilateral knee pain, super fatigue, headache,
c-spine pain, decreased ROM, FUO; usually 99.2 to 99. 6° F. They first diagnosed me with lupus. I disagreed and change doctors. Additional lab, no lupus. Sent to rheumatology.

      1. back pain stiffness

        1. - Oh yes - these symptoms are quite challenging to deal with, especially without a diagnosis. It’s truly important to listen to your body and pay attention to what it’s telling you. I hope you’ve been able to find support and guidance to help manage early signs of chronic pain. Thoughtfully, Rebecca (team member)
