Yeast infections and AS

Hello All, I am new to this forum and I am so happy to have found you guys. Long story short I check all the boxes for AS ever since highschool but got misdiagnosed with Fibro (maybe) when I was 33. a Few weeks ago my new Rheum diagnosed me with AS.

My question is: is any one else dealing with yeast infection after yeast infection. I am a female so Im dealing with that end of things but I also am starting to get bouts of Thrush too.

I did read several studies about candida and AS but I didn't gleam much from them. At least not what i was looking for.

I also got diagnosed with prediabetes so that may be why i keep getting yeast infections. Theyve been so bad that they have caused bleeding and pain to the point that i can't walk and have to be carried into the ER.

What about you all, especially the ladies. what has been your experience with yeast?

  1. Hi,
Welcome to the community! We're glad you found us.
I feel for you and what you are going through. These yeast infections you are experiencing sound excruciating. As you may be aware, certain factors or conditions can increase the risk of yeast infections. These may include specific medications, hormone levels, and auto-immune conditions (just to name a few). As we wait for others in the community to chime in with their personal experiences, I want to share this article from one of our patient leaders describing her own experience: https://ankylosingspondylitis.net/living/diagnosed-autoimmune-disease
May it provide a bit of comfort knowing you are not alone.
In addition, we also recommend bringing any new or changing symptoms to your healthcare provider's attention.
Wishing you some much-needed answers and relief soon!
