Anyone who is HLA B27 positive get results from a low starch diet?

I have read both ways that it could help people without HLA-B27 and also that it doesn't help to eat a low starch diet. Anyone tried this? I did a keto diet and I felt better if I stayed gluten free and dairy free. I am struggling with my resolve on any diet. I get burned out from trying to not eat the stuff that I get for other people in the house. I have a house of somewhat picky eaters and I watched some of my friends have to eat strict diets when the were kids and they would just gorge the forbidden foods when they weren't with their parents.

  1. Cindy, I have MS and AS. I decided to go Paleo after 12 years of MS. I did notice a difference. When I found out I had the gene for AS, I didn't want to start any more biologics (because the MS meds make you feel horrible) no testing was done. However, the rheumatologist told me to stop eating nightshade vegetables. That DID help. That was in 2017, and to this day, I do not eat nightshades because it made that big a difference! There are even recipes online that include no-nightshade marinara sauce!

    1. Thanks so much for sharing your experience.
Juggling MS and AS can be a bit challenging.
It's great to hear these dietary changes are making a difference for you.
Sending you all my best, Doreen (Team Member)
