Cymbalta

Hi everyone, I am currently on Cipralex for anxiety & depression, and my GP (who I love) is recommending I try switching to Cymlata as it can also help w pain. Anyone here have positive experiences on Cymbalta vs other psychiatric meds? Note: I have managed mental health for a long time without meds & am aware of many natural options but I recently experienced a very scary bout of severe depression & the meds helped a great deal so for now please limit comments to the discussion of psychiatric medicine. TIA!

  1. I take Cymbalta (60 mg bid) to help with pain and depression.

    1. Thank you for sharing with us. How has your weekend been going? Hope you having a great one. Sending you hugs, Nicky (Community Member)

  2. I switched from Zoloft to Cymbalta and it helped a lot. Cymbalta made me feel less numb and zombie-like as compared to how I felt on Zoloft. It also helped me with my neurological fibromyalgia pain. I have personally had a good experience with it. If you decide to take it, I hope it helps you as well.

    1. Hi - Thanks so much for the question. I've tried both Lexapro (cipralex) and Cymbalta in the past before I was diagnosed with AS/AxSpA - when they didn't know what was wrong. Currently, though, I do not use either.

For me, Cymbalta worked better reducing neurologic as well as musculoskeletal pain that plagued me back ... mmmm say 15 years ago. On a personal note, I did feel better on Cymbalta as it "numbed" the anxiety and depression, as well as the body pain. I did like Cymbalta more than Lexapro because of this.

I hope others will chime in on how these two have affected them in relation to their mental health and wellbeing.

In the meantime - if you care to look more into the differences between the two - here is a link with a lot of info on comparing the two drugs.
