Hip replacements

Has anyone had both hips replaced? I’m 35 and replaced my left hip in spring 2021 and am desperately looking forward to getting the right hip replaced 12/23/22. I’ve loved the new hip so I’m not worried about the surgery or anything like that. Just want to know if anyone’s dealt with this as a symptom of AS because my rheumatologist said this may be osteoarthritis separate from my AS an I left confused.
Thanks

  1. - I wanted to stop by and leave a response for you bc I too have had my left hip replaced at 50. I will eventually need my right hip replaced, but not just yet. It is degenerative but not bone-on-bone. I have decided that I will have it done once it becomes too painful. I have had multiple orthopedic surgeries. The inflammation in my hips and pelvis was pretty extreme from AS and OA - I had so much inflammation in the area that I tore my right hamstring and both hips have torn tendons and ligaments. It was pretty bad prior to the left hip replacement. Currently, there is moderate pelvic and hip pain but I am managing well enough with a walking bike and cane on and off. How do you manage your pain? Do you find after hip surgery you still have pain? Wishing you a happy New Year! Rebecca (comm advc)
