Is it Uveitis?

Hi all, first time poster. I’m currently being worked up for autoimmune and narrowing down to seronegative spondylarthropathies.

Last week, I started have weird symptoms in my right eye. Lid drooping, and several other odd sx.

Can someone tell me how uveitis feels? Does it cause ptosis(eyelid drooping)?

I would appreciate any info!

  1. When i first started having eye symptoms from AS I was working in a metal shop doing a lot of metal grinding. I thought i had a piece of metal stuck in my eye because because that's what it felt like. When to opthalmology and when he looked into my eye he said there was no object in eye but he said there was a lot of inflammation and he said I have uveitis. He asked if I possibly had AS and I said yes I do. I test positive for the HB - L27 gene and have had AS since the age of 30 ( now 5😎. So I was given some eye medication ( one was very expensive) to keep symptoms under control. It only happens rarely now but that's what uveitis feels like is a an object in the eye from my experience

    1. ,
Your initial reaction makes so much sense.
It's great that you got checked out by an ophthalmologist and have found the source and relief.
      Thanks so much for sharing.

  2. I have uveitis and scleritis, The uveitis made it look like my eye was popping out! Very Red and you could see the inflammation, almost like a bubble of the eye itself. I also had a horrible migraine on that side of my face. I was very sick for 2 weeks debilitated. Steroid eye drops for months. Don’t want to scare you but always get it checked by a optomologist and a Uveitis specialist. I hope this helps.

  3. Hi,
I have had uveitis 3 times in 15 months. The main symptoms are pain in eye, redness in eye and sensitive to light. It takes a while to go normally weeks. I would recommend getting checked as my doctors have told me to go straight to A&E if I get any uveitis symptoms. Hope this helps!

    1. Hello, I am so sorry you are having this issue. I will say at the outset I have never had Uveitis. So I am not a great source. still I wanted to acknowledge and answer your question as best as I can. I thought the best way I could do that is to check in with the Mayo clinic website. I used this link:

Reading though the information it does not appear that ptosis is associated with uveitis. Now again i am not an expert. So I know others will respond and will be able to give a more accurate account. Many blessings and I so hope things improve quickly.
