Restless Legs Anyone

I’ve been feeling so much better of course still with some not so good days, but my meds working, I’ve decided to start adding back exercise. Funny thing is all of sudden RLS is back and keeping me up at night. Just curious if anyone out there with AS is also dealing with restless legs and if so what helps?

  1. Hi
I do get RLS but I am not sure if it worsk the same for everyone because I only seem to get it when I am sitting down on the sofa. If I go to bed, which I have to do to ease the discomfort, the RLS eases up. From what I can see, that's not the case for many people.
I'm not sure what to suggest but I do hope the RLS eases up soon. Sending good vibes your way.

      2. Hey !

I have struggled with restless legs since the very beginning of my AS journey. It's interesting you mention exercise, because that triggers mine as well. Here's the catch with me though. I also have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia and most recently found out I have severe reflux of both great saphenous veins in my legs. Nobody really knows what to attribute my leg symptoms to at this point because every diagnosis I have is from the pelvis down. So not only do I have RLS, but I also have painful, swollen, heavy legs.

I'm not a medical professional, but maybe you could try compression socks? I have to wear them for my veins, but I have some close friends that wear them who have AS just because they like the feel of the squeeze. I don't know if it helps with RLS, but mine has improved some since wearing them! Hopefully you'll get some more helpful feedback here!

All my best, Katie, Team Member

        1. Same here. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and RLS initially when AS was not properly diagnosed. Now am connecting the dots!
