Hi, I’m wondering if any of you have been taking steroids to help in a bad flare.

Yes I have had oral prednisone and then injections in my knees. All were ve successful to helping me in a flare. The oral steroid kills my stomach though. I have to eat yogurt and carbs to help cushion my stomach before I take it.

Hi, How are you feeling today? I have had injection of steroids in hips and knee when I had a bad flare. It really helped at the time with pain, swelling and recovery. I was never prescribed steroid tablets for my flares though. And I have to say, since I have been on biologics, I don't need steroid injections anymore as I don't get bad flare. Hurrah 😀 Take care, Julie.

Hey ,
Sorry to hear that you are going through a nasty flare at the moment.
I have taken steroids on a number of occasions whilst going through bad flares myself. I was taking prednisone for a while and when I had super inflamed joints I would get them drained and they would inject a steroid in afterwards - although I can't quite remember the name of which one it was exactly!
I think all in all they seemed to help me and luckily I managed to escape without noticing any side effects really!
Which kind of steroids have you been offered?
Hope things start to pick up for you soon, James (Community Member)
