Treatment

I was diaagnosed with AS about 7 years ago but only vision effected. I have been taking Remicaid Infusions for about 4 to 6 years once a month. In addition I take Prednisone for about the same amount of time if not longer. Every time I try to get off the prednisone my vision lessons. My AS is in vision, hips, legs, back, neck and shoulders. I am not so sure these infusions work anymore. Last two times very sick next day and still pain. Thoughts? I also take injections of methotrexate weekly.

  1. Hi.
I haven't heard of Remicad. I have just quickly Googled it. So, I can't comment on their effectiveness. I did have Methotrexate though. It worked for a few years but then it became less effective. I wonder if you might be experiencing the same issue. Would it be worth having a word with your doctor? I know my doctor has always been willing to change the injection I take if I complain it's no longer working effectively.
Whatever you decide, I do hope you feel better soon.
    Keep us posted.

    1. I used Remicade for a few over 5 years and I did not experience a cascade of blood issues. However, I did not use prednisone........... rick (moderator)
