What are some websites or books with recipes designed for individuals with AS

I have been looking for healthy food options, specifically recipes that exclude dairy, gluten, sugar, and alcohol. This has led me to explore an anti-inflammatory diet, although I've noticed that it's not always completely accurate. Do you have any suggestions for websites or books with well-crafted recipes tailored for individuals with AS?

  1. Hello - It's great you've chosen to change your diet for the better. This is a HOT topic here. There are many suggested diets and choices available to those with chronic inflammatory disease. I too have been looking to find ways to cut the inflammation in my body and prefer to do it naturally such as with food. I see that has guided you in the direction of some great information here on our site. I wanted to step up and offer others. The Spondylitis Association of America has some great ideas. https://spondylitis.org/about-spondylitis/treatment-information/diet-nutrition/ They also have a book at cost, Straight Talk on Spondylitis, that goes into more detail. Here's the link https://spondylitis.org/product/new-straight-talk-book-4th-edition/?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjw7-SvBhB6EiwAwYdCAZAgWUMOZlkAGktiHc4E-BtjaeACteklPVqKLDrnfUHnvHaK07vz8RoCt7wQAvD_BwE The Cleveland Clinic also a page dedicated to healthy diet information for those with AS. https://health.clevelandclinic.org/diet-tips-ankylosing-spondylitis Also Creaky Joints webpage has a post dedicated to diet https://creakyjoints.org/education/arthritis-diet/anti-inflammatory/ as well as NASS https://nass.co.uk/managing-my-as/living-with-as/your-diet/ I hope this information is helpful and that you improve your symptoms through diet. If you still have questions, do not hesitate to contact a team member by leaving a post or DM. Thoughtfully, Rebecca (team member)

    1. wow fantastic, thank you Rebecca I will definitely have a look at those links you provided. I love to cook, and even though I now sort of know what ingredients work or should be avoided, it's always nice to have new recipes. 😀

    2. I am so glad you found the articles interesting. I love to cook too. Having been on this journey toward healthy eating, I've discovered abounding information with recipes suitable to those with chronic inflammation. Finding recipes and/or the right foods can be intimidating, for me at least. I picked up this magazine at the health food store to help me begin. The Complete Anti-Inflammatory Diet for Beginners: A No-Stress Meal Plan with Easy Recipes to Heal the Immune System I believe you can get it off of Amazon. It has been really helpful when I am feeling fatigued. I just open up and pick a recipe to put on the table for me and my spouse. Just another resource. Have a wonderful week. Yay for Spring!
