Is anyone in this group below 25?

  1. Hi , sadly time has caught up with me and I am not under 25 anymore, but I was when I was diagnosed! AS is a condition that doesn't discriminate on age so you are definitely not alone!

    Hope you are well,

    1. Hi ,

I'm 21 years old and I'm from Canada. My treatment for AS includes a biologic drug called Humira, an anti-inflammatory drug called diclofenac, and daily exercise.

I haven't settled my career yet, but I'm studying Psychology in university. When I think about future careers, I have to consider what will be best for my body — ideally, it would be great to find a career with flexibility. I find job searching can be impacted by having AS and its limitations.

Please reach out if you have questions or anything else you'd like to discuss!

      1. Namaste @Cassia Pelton,
For the treatment of AS I have prefered Ayurveda which is totally based on natural remedies as I am not satisfied with the Allopathic medicines, because those medicines were only helping me to postpone the symptoms.

Now I am in final semester of graduation, I am pursuing B. Commerce honours from IP University in New Delhi. By the end of this upcoming July I will be graduated.
Then I will have to find the job and expand my career in the field of commerce, but I think this disease would be a barricade for my career in future. So I am confused at this time that how to choose the right path.
I think you would be also at the same situation as I am in.
You are a psychology student you might understand my situation better. 😅😅
        Suggest me something you want.

Thank you for your response. 🌺

      2. Hi! I'm glad you've found something that works for you.

Congratulations on being so close to graduation! I'm sure you've worked very hard to achieve this.

AS can definitely be a barrier in some ways — for me, it stops me from applying for any jobs where I have to stand for long periods or lift heavy objects. Other than that, I feel as though most paths are relatively "open" for me. I just try to remember that my health comes first, before any job — I need to prioritize taking care of my body.

I think the most important thing is to choose a career path that is realistic and that will make you happy. Don't let AS completely dictate your choice. You may decide to change careers later on if it isn't working with AS, but I think you should still try to pursue the career you truly want. I would think that most jobs in commerce wouldn't require much physical exertion... so I'm sure you'll find something.

    2. Namaste @steff Di Pardo, I am from India. I just want to know how people of my age worldwide curing this disease. And how are they settling out their career in their respective fields. 🌺
      Thank you for the response.
