Choosing a Keyboard for Daily Work

I'm searching for a keyboard that doesn't aggravate the pain in my hands, and am not having much luck. For me, size (cannot be small), key height, and key pressure are important, rather than a split, ergonomic design, which doesn't work with my typing needs.

Does anyone use a keyboard they would suggest for multi-hour daily use?

Thanks!

  1. Thanks for this article!

I'm not sure how many computers you work at, but I recently changed my set-up so that my two computers and third screen are plugged into a switch selector. This has made it so I can use the same keyboard and mouse on both computers. I also don't have to reach over to my second laptop's keyboard and I can use my vertical mouse all the time. Like you, I also picked up a laptop stand to raise that screen, which has been an amazing improvement.

The keyboard I'm trying right now is the Razer Ornata V4 low-profile with silent keys. But it honestly doesn't feel low-profile. Maybe medium-profile, hahaha. I'd love to try the Microsoft Sculpt but I think I've adapted my typing slightly in response to joint pain, so the split boards are a bit challenging for me to work on. It looks like a very comfortable board though!

    1. I am in the same boat you are. I actually just switched my set up to include a keyboard and a raised up computer screen so that I’m not always looking down. I did see this article, and I’m wondering if this keyboard would be helpful? https://www.nbcnews.com/select/amp/ncna1281909
