Secukinumab during pregnancy

Please, has anyone here been on secukinumab during pregnancy? If so, how was it?

I know its prescribing information advises against it, but there are a few studies where women kept using it.

I would really appreciate to hear from you, people. My girlfriend was on secukinumab and got pregnant - now we and her rheumatologist are facing this dilemma.

Thank you!

  2. I believe what you are looking for is under item 8. Specifically, 8.1 pregnancy. If you go here, you can read the full prescribing information.

As I read it (remember I am not a doctor and could never give medical advice. I am just a guy, and the warning says insufficient data exists to decide. Now, what does that mean? It is not definitive one way or another. I think she and her rheumatologist have to answer that question; no one else can do it, really.

Another place that weighed in was this study:

Secukinumab in pregnancy: outcomes in psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis from the global safety database

    https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1111/bjd.16901

I suggest you take each of these bits of data to her rheumatologist and ask their opinion.

So is it a good idea or not? Like I said, I am not a doctor and cannot give an opinion. I only suggest attending her Rheumatology appointment; if she does not mind, then make the best decision you can. I do not think there will be any hard and fast answers. I understand how difficult that is. I wish you the very best........................ rick

    1. Hey, Rick!

I really appreciate your reply and effort in helping me. Thank you for all your considerations.

We already have the full prescribing information along with the studies you mentioned and are currently discussing it with her rheumatologist. She will probably use the medication until the end of the second trimester.

What I'm really looking for is people who've had first hand experience in using secukinumab during pregnancy. We won't base our decision on internet forums, we just want to share experiences, and I personally think that talking to these people could provide a little more psychological confort to my girlfriend.

      Thank you!

    2. I hope you get some. ...... rick
