Sharing Some AxSpa Beneficial Recipes

I try my best to eat as healthy as I can to try and keep my AS in check. This usually means avoiding gluten and dairy (and in my case meat and fish as I'm vegetarian) and adding as many anti inflammatory ingredients as possible.

But this can sometimes get a bit boring and I can find it a struggle to think of something exciting to make that is both delicious and good for me and my conditions.

So I thought I would create this forum to see if any of you guys have any exciting recipes you have found that are as tasty as they are beneficial AS wise.

I'll start off with my personal favourite - an anti-inflammatory vegan chilli with a walnut ginger crumble. It's a bit of a mouthful to say but a scrumptious one at that I promise!

I'll leave the link to the recipe and a photo of my last attempt of making one at the end for anyone interested to check out!

Do you have any AS beneficial recipes you'd like to share?

  1. I’m gluten and dairy free too plus I’m sensitive to egg whites.
Overnight Oats are my fave go-to meal to break my fast.
1 cup gluten free Oats (normally rolled)
    1 cup almond milk
    1 tsp Cinnamon
The next day I add fruit: banana, apples, or berries and walnuts or almond butter. I also add some protein powder so I have a macro dense meal.
I like how I can have several of these in the fridge prepped for the week.

    1. Wow that sounds like a delicious way to start the day! I haven't had oats like that for a very long time and will definitely be adding that to my shopping list for next week!

What kind of protein powder do you use?

  2. Recipe

    1. Great idea - I've been trying to eat better as I have been having issues with my stomach and taking the new JAK inhibitor Xeljanz. I made a nice sheet pan dinner in the oven with sweet potato cubes, garbanzo beans, halved brussel sprouts, and seasoned chicken sausage roasted in the oven for about 30 mins. To make it vegan you can substitute the sausage for cubed tofu. Here's the recipe: https://www.eatwell101.com/sheet-pan-sausage-veggies-recipe ( I added my favorite seasoning and roasted it - was delicious! ) Rebecca (comm advc)

      1. I used Italian seasoning which is a blend of oregano, garlic, rosemary, basil, and thyme. Also the maple syrup and dijon mustard poured over it makes it delicious!! What type of fake meat do you use in your recipes? Rebecca

      2. sounds lovely! My kitchen is always stocked with garlic and oregano so that should be easy enough. Maple syrup and mustard together is an interesting combination I haven't heard of before that I am excited to try now!

I'm actually experimenting quite a bit in the fake meat department at the moment. Previously my options where only tofu or Quorn but with veganism becoming more popular a lot of new brands are appearing so I am broadening my horizons by trying them all. The only problem is that there are so many it's hard to keep track of the ones that I liked. It feels strange having so many options as a veggie haha!

        Hope you are well,
