I’m currently 36 weeks pregnant with AS.
I tried to come off all my meds the year before to ‘see how I’d manage’…In hindsight I wish I’d just stayed on them to keep my body in the best shape possible before starting the pregnancy as it’s an uphill battle.
I felt judged for being on tablets whilst pregnant by some practitioners…but aslong as you can be on as minimal as possible whilst keeping yourself functional ..I feel that’s the best you can do when you have a chronic condition. I couldn’t get out of bed without any painkillers.
I was previously on etodolac and changed to ibuprofen whilst pregnant (for the first two trimesters), along with other painkillers.
My Main advice would be to try and keep as active as you can with low impact exercise and listen to your body! I’ve found yoga and walking the best things. You have to accept that you can’t do what you can normally do…and that’s okay…it’s not forever.
As the pregnancy has progressed I have definitely struggled more…but I know I’m on the home stretch now and it’ll be worth it. You just have to do what’s best for you and your baby….and you can do it!!
