Update Since I've Last Posted

So, a year ago I posted my rheumy at Mayo diagnosed me with AxSpa; however, I recently read his notes where he stated he wasn't sure. However, at my followup this week, I brought new mri scans and reports showing I have developed insertional tendonitis with bone marrow adema in my Achilles tendon. He said that confirms the diagnosis of spondyloarthropy and because of my chronic back pain, he designated it axial for now. I also have a new pain mgmt doc who was trained in rheumatology by my Mayo doc (serendipitous!). He stated my overall pain and fatigue is def fibromyalgia and changed my meds to treat that. So, together with my awesome pcp, I now have an awesome care team after 50 years!!

  1. - It's wonderful to hear that you now have a supportive care team in place, including your pain management doctor who has experience in rheumatology.

Navigating chronic conditions like spondyloarthritis and fibromyalgia can indeed be a tough journey, and it's great that you have found healthcare professionals who are knowledgeable and understanding to help you on a healing path.

Having a supportive team can make a substantial difference in managing your health effectively. Seems you are on your way to feeling better. Yay! Here's a link to "non-med" possibilities and other options that may support you. https://axialspondyloarthritis.net/treatment-didnt-work-consider-another-option Wishing you the best in 2023 and all of 2024. 1. I have noticed a difference in the whole body pain of the fibro, but I'm not even up to a therapeutic dose on any of the meds, so just waiting to see if it's all going to work. Also working on doing some nonmed things to see if some self help stuff will help.

      1. Hey ,

That is so great to hear that you have put together a great care team at last! It sounds like you are also finally getting some answers to the things that you were experiencing so hopefully these new medications can give you the relief that you need!

How are you finding things since you changed meds? Have you noticed any difference at all?

        Wishing you all the best,
