Anyklosing Spondylitis and Lyrica

My doctor thought it would be great to prescribe Lyrica for my anyklosing spondylitis. I am on pain meds and have been since 2012, and am now having break-through pain.

Doc didn't adjust pain meds and decided Lyrica was a good idea. It wasn't.

It took away every emotion I had. Long story short, it felt like my soul was taken away so I decided to stop taking it and tapered off.

I have my flare ups, but to feel like a zombie with no emotions at all, I am dealing with the pain. Has anyone had this experience with Lyrica?

  1. It’s frustrating when a medication is supposed to help but ends up creating a whole different problem. Feeling disconnected from yourself would be a dealbreaker for me too because choosing between physical pain and feeling like yourself isn’t a choice anyone should have to make. But while you wait for others to share their experience here, I want to add a forum where members have talked about their experience with Lyrica in a different post. You can access it here- https://axialspondyloarthritis.net/forums/pain-therapy#forum-thread-discussion. How are you coping with the pain now that you’ve stopped taking Lyrica? -Latoya (Team Member)
