Biologics and other treatments

Hi. I am fairly recently diagnosed with AxSpa and was wondering if people on here know more about treatments than the tiny amount that I do.
My Rheumatologist ( that it takes 9 months to get an appointment to see here in Kent, England) said that he will avoid giving me some of the medical treatment due to my heart attack that I had last year as the drugs can cause problems with the heart in people that have existing heart disease issues. Does this ring a bell with anyone else? As I think a lot of us men are, I’m a bit useless in remembering to ask questions when I’m in front of the medical professionals.

  1. Very kind of you. Thank you.

    1. Hi again - As you wait for responses from those in the community, I wanted to jump on and offer up some info that may help. We have a sister site called - AnkylosingSpondylitis.net - where there is also a ton of info and helpful forums. You may find answers there as well. I was hoping you'd connect with another one of our male advocates as well who (I believe) is from Kent. He may have some answers to your questions and offer up group chats or forums specifically dedicated to your issues, especially the heart and gut issues when it comes to biologicals. His name is Steve Tuffin. You can find his contact by searching his name on this site or the ankylosing spondylitis site. If you private message him, he should answer accordingly. Best of wellness always. Rebecca (comm advc)
