Hyrimoz - GERD Increase

Anyone else notice crazy heartburn and burping after Hyrimoz injection? I have GERD and it's not normally this bad. I take meds for it, but it seems worse since the first injection.

  1. Well I was supposed to take third dose next week but I just learned I had skin cancer. This has been removed already this week but I read that this drug isn’t good to take if you’ve had skin cancer as increases chances of getting it. Anyone else experienced this? It’s too bad as I think it was working.

    1. hi. Yes. She said that if I had non-melanoma it’s ok to keep taking but the drug does cause an increased risk for the type of skin cancer I had. It’s a difficult decision.

    2. It sounds like a difficult decision! Keep in touch an let us know how you are doing. Warmly, Kathy (Team member)

  2. Thanks Kathy. I haven't asked the doc about it yet because I'm unsure if the med did actually cause more heartburn. It seems to be getting better. I'm going to see if it happens again on the second dose which is due in a few days. I have noticed that my hip/thigh/buttock/lower back is no longer tender and painful. And my eustachian tube dysfunction seems better too! I had thought I could try getting off Celebrex, but I felt a bit stiff after skipping it one day, so going to stay on it for now. I'm trying to be patient, but I am hopeful at the results so far after only one dose.

    1. Fingers crossed that the GERD is resolving and other symptoms are easing. Sometimes, I guess, it just takes the body a while to adapt to a new treatment. I'm glad you will continue to monitor how you are feeling. All the best, Kathy (Team member)

  3. That sounds very uncomfortable. While GERD isn't listed as one of the most common side effects, others in this community have noted that their stomach issues have gotten worse while taking a biologic. If you haven't already talked to his or her, your doctor may have some insight into why you are reacting this way and what to do about it. Let us know if he/she offers any tips. Warmly, Kathy (Team member)
