    1. Hi - so sorry I have been MIA but dealing with a few issues and taking time to rest before I jump into the new year.

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and New Year's. Mine was quiet and calm. I caught a horrible upper respiratory infection and felt terrible for 2 weeks. I am only just coming out of it. Had lots of help with Christmas and New Year's dinner so it went over well. Feeling much better now, though. Also, I have been working with the new Pup and training which has kept me on my toes.

I had a snafu with the steroid injections - they scheduled me wrong, and only learned I missed the appt as we were halfway to the facility. Someone changed the times to earlier and I was a "no show" - boy was I aggravated. So ... still in pain. However, I did contact a neurosurgeon for a consultation who is sending me for x-rays, MRI, and CT of the lumbar spine (if my new insurance approves it.)

Thank you so much for being here in the community. I hope that you have gotten answers, that your health is improving, and that you continue to hop on now and again. I love chatting with you.

Tell me ... how have you been?

      Warmly - Rebecca (community moderator)

      1. Hello again! Yes photography. I have a heavy camera as well but mostly choose to use my smartphone when out in nature and enjoying the sites. I may pick it up and dust it off.

It's completely understandable that you're hesitant about medication given your history. I am quite sure it was a burdensome time for you. And taking precautions and avoiding opioids is a reasonable and safe choice.

My family is INCREDIBLY supportive - helping me through the tough times. We have grown children so only the 3 dogs in the house are with us. They are like children though. They have helped me through some really tough times in the past. For that I am forever grateful.

I wish I could have danced professionally. I was heading toward that direction when I began having terrible unexplained pain and injuries. Then I got married, had kids, and taught for a while. Eventually I had to stop bc my spine and joints hurt too much. I mourned my career for a LONG time.

I'm really sorry to hear about your sister's passing as well. It is so heartbreaking to lose a family member. It was a tough time for me. I still think of the last moments with her. Can't believe it's been ... 5 years she's gone now.

I hope that you keep yourself occupied throughout the day with photography, puzzles, art, and crosswords. I think it will help get you through the tough days. I also forgot to mention reading as a pursuit. When I was younger, I always despised reading, but within the past year I began picking up a variety of books, and I have to say it's been refreshing. I really enjoy being drawn into the storylines of a delightful book. Hoping you find a great massager/heating pad - it's worth using one daily.

My televist is tomw morning - I am sure it will be a good visit. I've never had a bad visit with this neurosurgeon. He is a pleasant, engaging, and compassionate physician. Until next week, adieu. I will update you soon. Hugs sent across the miles. Have a great weekend. Rebecca (comm moderator)

      2. Hello Rebecca
Yes smartphone is great most of my photos are taken with my smartphone as well, Nick bought me the camera a few years ago but not been used much.
I love taking photos I have over 8,000 nature, places out, husband and my daughter and grandchildren.

Yes I am very hesitant but you have to take what helps, it’s not easy but it’s important I take them when I need too.

Thats really important you have good support and family understanding what you’re going through.
Awww yes dogs are wonderful and definitely help, how is your pup doing?

That must of been heartbreaking your career stopped and it would take a long time to get over it.
I worked as a merchandiser but I had to give up as I was lifting heavy boxes and driving one end of the country to the other and now I find it difficult just getting out of the driveway my confidence went in 2021 as I was coming out of the driveway and hit the side of the wall so I haven’t driven since but I should of gone straight back in but I was not able to as the garage gave us another car but I was nervous of hitting the wall again and took awhile for ours to be repaired.
I need to go back in and start driving I keep telling myself that.

Yes it was a massive shock, her partner said she was in hospital and she was in an out of hospital but he said she will be fine as it’s a chest infection, but I had heard her struggling to breathe on the phone days before but I thought something more was going on and her partner had his phone off so I rang the hospital they said she was in ICU and we went there straight away, by the time we got there she was dead, they asked me if I wanted to see her I said yes but actually I wish I hadn’t she had tubes still attached, I was told they couldn’t do anything.
I never had any bereavement help either, I have dreams of getting there seeing her alive, we were two hours away and nick drove as fast as he could.
I can understand how you felt I am so very sorry.

Nick bought me some crossword books and Wordsearch so I managed a few words it’s really helps your brain, yes a good book takes you away to better places definitely.

Thank you I am looking on Amazon and e bay I have see a few different ones so will see which is better to buy.

Nick said it came on the news that if you get diagnosed with cancer now it’s a two month wait to see a specialist it’s madness it used to be less than two weeks, the NhS is so bad now.

I really hope your appointment goes well, thinking of you tomorrow.

        Take care Rebecca
